Joanne's Race for Life-Heaton Park

It will be 18 days since my last chemotherapy, I am going to run if I can, if I can't I am going to walk or crawl to raise money. I was diagnosed with breast cancer on 12th October 2016, I have had a mastectomy and reconstruction on the same day on my right breast on 15th December 2016, then lymph node removal right side on 12th January. Since then I have had 6 courses of chemotherapy and I have radiotherapy to look forward to. Hopefully my cancer is cured due to all the research that has been carried out over the last 40 years or so, without this research I would have been handed a short life. Now I can do my bit for the future, I managed to keep all my hair due to research into cold cap treatments, I haven't been unwell due to advances with chemotherapy treatments and my diagnosis has been a gift to me to make me realise what is important in life, I am reconciled with God and my life is better now than before the cancer. I have been looked after by amazing people, surgeons, nurses, oncologists, chemotherapy specialist nurses and soon radiologists. Plus my family and friends, you know who you are!
