I am so lucky to have amazing family and friends who have supported me through some tough times and now I want to do something for one of the best of them. I am walking with a group of these friends to support my friend Emma who has spent the last 9 months receiving treatment for breast cancer. Having known Emma for almost 12 years, I have always respected her for being a strong woman and knew she was someone who when they set their mind to something just gets on and does it. I have still been blown away by her strength and attitude to this tough time she and her family have faced. It is also 20 years in November since my own family were forever affected by cancer when we lost my crazy (good crazy!) mother who had a brain tumour which sadly couldn't be removed. I don't think I know anyone who hasn't been affected by cancer in some way so please help us if you can raise money to do what we can to fight this. Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
CAUSE
Breast cancer
With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
