How grateful I am to still have amazing people in my life that have fought and beat Cancer: Wesley, Auntie Karen and to those that cancer took away before I could meet: Wesley's Grandad Fred Girdler
In memory of
Wesley's Grandad Fred Girdler (big Fred)
I'm walking at Shine Night Walk in the fight to beat cancer and to thank cancer research for the hard work that they do everyday to support families and keep loved ones together. In 2013 my partner Wesley was diagnosed with cancer, this was the most difficult thing I have ever heard and struggled to come to terms with it. Wesley was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma. Within weeks he had surgery to remove his tibia and replace it with titanium. The recovery was long and emotionally drained all involved. The next few years were hard but now in our 6th year we could not be more grateful for the treatment and support he received. As a result of the work that cancer research have done and continue to do we have been able to start a family and welcome a beautiful little boy into the world. I am doing this walk to show my gratitude to all of those that make it possible for families hit with the C word to continue their journey with each other and make beautiful memories (and babies) together. I love my little family and without the work cancer research do, It may not have existed. As well as to remind Wes that I am grateful to still be on this journey with him. Please support me in raising money for a cause that I know has impacted most people’s life.
