My Story
Inspired by my friend Dan and her team I’ve decided to walk 26.2 miles to raise funds for Lung Cancer. My grandad died when I was a baby at the very young age of 59 from lung cancer, leaving my mum without a dad at 35 and my lovely nanny widowed in her early 60’s. From what mum says, often with lung cancer by the time the person is showing symptoms it’s often too late to be treated. Recently at age 73, my mum had a routine scan and a lung nodule was found and after a biopsy and tests it was inconclusive whether or not the mass was cancer. My mum being super brave and seeing what happened to her dad, opted to have it removed, enduring serious surgery and a hard recovery. The nodule turned out to be cancerous and was growing fast - she’s now cancer free and doing great. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s ground breaking work. Donate to my Giving Page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
