My Story
Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. We have formed the 'Sarcoma steamies' with a a brave little chap called Aidan in mind, Who has just turned the ripe old age of 5. His Mum Angela is in our team. In June of this year Aidan was sadly found to have a Ewing’s sarcoma in his spine, which has been removed surgically and now he is on the long journey of 12 cycles of chemotherapy- The last one planned for Christmas Day of this year !. He is being a complete brave soldier … along with his older brother Paul, his dad Steve and Mum we might add. On top of this Aidan will require a special type of radiotherapy called Proton therapy that he will start in the autumn of this year. It is his love of steam trains ( particularly Henry from Thomas and the tank engine we have been told !)that our name has been derived. Without research into cancer we would not be where we are today and able to help treat Aidan and other Sarcoma sufferers. With that in mind and the sad losses of loved ones and friends to this terrible disease along the way to whose memory we will also walk for on the 28th. So Dig deep please to help fight the fight full steam ahead ….Keep chugging Aidan ! Sarcoma Steamies x 🚂
