Jess's Race for Life
Milton Keynes Pretty Muddy 10k 2018
Sat 8 Sep 2018
This is my fourth Race for Life, but this year I am doing it with more fight than ever before! Me and my oldest friend Jess are running the 10K ‘Pretty Muddy’: Race for Life for my Dad, Johnny - who is BEATING cancer! My Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer on the 14th of February 2018 after a routine check came back with an abnormality. On the 14th of March he went in to Northampton Hospital for keyhole surgery to have the cancer removed, he then spent 8 days in hospital before he was discharged home. The post-op biopsy came back to show some lymph nodes had potential cancerous cells and he now has 6 months of chemotherapy ahead of him before he can be given the all clear. If it wasn’t for Cancer Research UK and the NHS, the diagnosis may not have been discovered so early, the operation may have not been so quick, and the aftercare may not have been so amazing - we will be forever grateful. Events like Race for Life are key to raising the money needed for these amazing causes and funding the research needed to one day BEAT CANCER FOR GOOD! The race takes place at 11:00am on the 8th of September in Milton Keynes and every donation is massively appreciated! And please, if you take anything from my Dad’s story, it should be that routine checks are SO important, so make sure you regularly check yourself and book in when necessary… Right, let’s do this! Hayley & Jess xx
