My Story
Some things are life changing - cancer is one of those things. Over more recent years, it has affected and changed the lives of people I know and love. In the last year it impacted us dramatically. Honestly they are words that I never wanted to hear and feared hearing. Since October 2017 we have been on a journey to do everything we can to help mum get treatment and heal. To be what she needs us to be and support her in whatever way we can. It changes the person’s (in our case mum) life overnight. My mum is my hero, my best friend and quite possibly the strongest person I know; she is amazing. Cancer can politely F off. It affects way too many mums, brothers, daughters, grandparents, friends... This a journey I never wanted her, and us, to have to take, but one we have embarked upon and one I wish others didn’t have to go on - unfortunately that is not the current reality.. 1 IN 2 WILL GET CANCER. Crazy but true. This team includes some of the amazing family and friends (who are basically family) who have helped and been there in so many ways. If doing something small can prevent more or as many people going through this disease or support those going through it, let’s do it. So I’m following Laura’s lead with the km and running 15km on the 8th July. (10 + 5) - 15 chemo sessions, 15 km. I can’t say I’ve ever run more than 5km (not necessarily all running!), it will be hard, but life isn’t easy, and it will be nowhere near as hard as cancer is for those going through it. If you can, please donate whatever you would like to, running this far in a few weeks time will be interesting! :) Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure.
