My Story
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be running a 10k for Cancer Research in memory of my Uncle Robert who tragically lost his fight to cancer on November 6th 2018. My Uncle had a very short and brave battle with advanced liver and bowel cancer, and lost his life only 3 months after diagnosis. My Uncle was aged 49 and leaves behind my beautiful Aunty Clare, my two amazing teenage cousins Caitlin and Harry, and Frank the cockapoo puppy. My Uncle was fun loving, hilarious, witty and kind. Cancer is something which felt so alien to me before it affected my family. My Uncles death has opened my eyes to the fact that we are not the only family grieving such loss, and that endless numbers of families are experiencing this same pain day in and out. And so, that is why I am “Running for Rob”. I want to use my Uncles heroic and brave story to raise money for a charity which now holds such an important place in my families lives. My goal for 2019 is train hard for this run, raise money for Cancer Research, and to do additional fundraising for Maggies Cancer Centre Swansea, somewhere which was so important to my Uncle during his final weeks. I hope I make you proud Roro! #RunningForRob
