My Story
This will be the seventh run for Cancer Research UK that I have taken part in without my Mum and this year I have decided to run the Robin Hood Half Marathon in her memory. Not only will I be running in her memory, but it's a personal goal and challenge for me too. It's a run with a difference as it will be hard and I will have been training for it for nearly a year by the time I do it, as I'm certainly no runner and I began this journey by doing the Couch to 5K with the wonderful Huffers and Puffers running club! But every step will be in her memory and every time I will want to stop I'll remember her strength and courage and it will make me carry on. We always used to run or walk the 5k together every year until she was hit with Endometrial cancer in 2011. It's so hard to see someone you love suffer, but we both vowed to fight and so that's what I continue to do in her honour and name. My Mum was my inspiration, who always looked for the positives in life no matter what was thrown her way and encouraged me to do the same and achieve the best I could in whatever I wanted to do. I miss the love and support she gave me every day. Together with my friends and family, so far, I've managed to raise more than £4000, and I'll keep at it, as the fight's not over yet! Please sponsor me if you can, even if it's just a little, every penny helps! 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure.
