My Story
My Dad has been diagnosed with Myleodysplasia, a type of Blood Cancer, luckily it hasn’t as yet developed into full blown Leukaemia and because of other health issues, we only have a small time frame to catch its development, in which he will hopefully be able to complete chemotherapy to eradicate the illness! To be able to catch this window he needs to attend three monthly blood tests, with a follow up bone marrow test if anything has changed. He’s recently had to be admitted to hospital with an infection that could have developed into sepsis, if not dealt with quickly. Luckily we did catch it quickly and he ended up on 48 hrs dose of antibiotics, a blood transfusion and platelet transfusion. Another blow on the 7th December 2019 my beautiful cousin, only 36, was taken from us because of this awful disease!! RIP Julia xx 16.12.19 - This week my Dad’s bloods are low so he’s had to have another blood transfusion and an emergency bone marrow test, we are waiting on results x 9.01.20 - Results are back and no changes in the bloods but they have put him on an injection trial to try and maintain his levels so possibly no further transfusions would be needed My challenge is to run two half marathons. So I’ve completed half of my challenge with running and finishing the Robin Hood Half Marathon (29th Sept 19) in 2hrs 50 mins and 11secs. 🏅 😁 The next half marathon is the London Landmarks Half Marathon (29th March 20), which I have been lucky and got a charity place for but to be able to take part in this I need to raise £350, the money will go to Cancer Research to continue support the research they are doing to help people beat this awful disease, so no one has to suffer.
