My Story
Cancer Research UK are this year's Charity of the Year, voted a clear winner by both Abingdon and Alderley Park – our ONE company alignment in action! For those of you not aware of Cancer Research UK, a brief description: 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime. In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive. CRUK’s ambition is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years by focusing efforts in four key areas – working to help prevent cancer, diagnose it earlier, develop new treatments and optimise current treatments by personalising them and making them even more effective. Events 2022 We have a number of events planned/in mind for the rest of this year, not least the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, and we are excited to share them with you. As always, your involvement and feedback is warmly welcomed, so please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is any input that you would like to share with us. Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
