For Our Beautiful Mum 🌸 At any stage in life, a diagnosis is a very traumatic experience filled with mixed emotion and uncertainty. Add in the “C” word and it’s twice as hard to deal with. Hearing a loved one has just been diagnosed with cancer breaks your heart a million times over. Nothing ever prepares you for that. Just this overwhelming wave of emptiness & helplessness. As a family member looking on at your loved ones journey, feelings are pushed to the side and you grow stronger together as a family unit, uniting to beat it as a team. There has been an unimaginable amount of love and support from close friends & family members since my mum’s diagnosis & I would like to thank every person who donates to my page, it means so much to me that you are helping to raise money for this charity that is very close to our hearts. My Mum was diagnosed with Triple Receptor Negative breast cancer the week before Christmas 2020. Only 15-25% of the population will be diagnosed with this type of cancer in their lifetime. It is a genetic cancer that has never shown up in our family history before until now. It is the most aggressive form of breast cancer with near enough all patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy & surgery to shrink & remove the tumour. Words can’t describe how proud Zoe & I are of our mum. She’s left us speechless. She always goes above & beyond for every single one of us. From the first day of diagnosis to shaving her hair before starting chemotherapy, she has always thought of the effect it has on us and not once put herself first. She is amazing. I’m just in so much awe at her battling through and laughing every time she gets the chance. If anyone knows my mum personally, you will know she is a very strong-willed person which comes from her natural red-head fight & determination. Watching a loved one go through chemotherapy & other invasive treatments is an extremely hard thing to do in normal circumstances before covid-19. Feeling helpless & unable to support during hospital treatments is unbearable. You almost feel as if your letting that person down because you can’t go with them to support them. A Very Prominent Reminder I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to check yourself every month, women & men. If you’re worried or unsure, always go get checked! One symptom that no one ever talks about is that there can be an extreme pain as well as a lump/any other symptoms. The awareness of this symptom is very very small. So please go get checked! As of the 1st of March 2021, I am putting on my walking shoes and walking 31,000 steps throughout March to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity that is in so much need for donations. My goal is £150! So if you are able to donate, however big or small it would be much appreciated! Xx
