My Story
Cancer. It’s a word none of us ever want to hear. Most of us have. I've watched a number of those I love go through it. Some are still here. Some aren’t. I’ve seen what it does. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Not only to the person going through it, but to everyone who loves them. From diagnosis, to treatment, to remission and beyond there is a weight that doesn’t just disappear. Even when treatment ends, the fear can linger. The “what if?” …. The impact on the body. The subtle and lingering changes that mean life isn’t quite the same as it was before. The people I’ve watched go through this are some of the strongest I know. Their resilience is something else. In March, I’m doing something small in comparison. I’m taking on ten 5km runs, alongside a 10-mile run, and finishing the month with a half marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK. It’s not about me. It’s about contributing, in whatever way I can, to research that helps prevent, treat and better understand cancer. In then hopes that one day the fear, the strain, and hold it has can be lighter. If you’d like to donate, I would be so grateful. And if you can’t, that’s completely okay too. Sharing, or simply taking a moment to think of someone affected, matters just as much. Thank you 🤍
