My Story
I miss my Granda every single day, and so began my relationship with cancer. That was the 1970s. 30years later and my own children lose two of their grandparents, way too soon, to cancer too. Our cousins, our friends, our colleagues, over the next decade too many loved ones for my fingers to count. So I shall instead hold my two strongest fingers up to you cancer to say we are all coming after you - with our laughter and our fight, with our aching unfit muscles and our inappropriate gallows humour, with our cherished memories of the people we love and the strength of our family and friends around us...We are coming for you, and we are going to have a damned good time in the process. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
