My Story
Did you know that 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men will be affected by cancer at one point in their lifetime. One of my close family members had been diagnosed with skin cancer. Luckily, this is a common and easily treatable form of cancer, as long as it is caught early. One family member with any form of cancer is one family member too many. I am unfortunate enough to know two family members with cancer. One member has survived skin cancer and sadly one lost their battle with lung cancer. Please will you help me raise money for these reasons: 1. The money towards cancer research makes the chance of surviving cancer greater. 2. Funding this research can help to identify the causes and thus help to prevent cancer in the first place. 3. I really hope you will never know someone with cancer, but donating money now could potentially help them in the future, as the chances of developing cancer are relatively high. My family member was lucky enough that their form of cancer was caught early and is currently treatable. Not everyone is this lucky. Some forms of cancer are currently untreatable, and the treatment for other forms is not always 100% successful. Funding for cancer research would enable these treatments to get better, and those forms of cancer that are currently untreatable may become treatable. As time goes on, and with the help of these donations, treatment for cancer has got better, with less side effects and higher chance of success, giving the patient a better life expectancy.
