A year of challenges

After last year's shine night walk, I thought I'd up the challenge and take on 14 events over the year walking a total of 1140km to raise funds for Cancer Research UK
I've seen far too many family, friends and colleagues suffer with cancer. Brain tumours, lung cancer, bowel cancer, skin cancer, breast cancer.... some beat their diagnoses, some are still fighting, some are no longer with us. I'm walking for all of them and will be thinking of them during this challenge year. This all started after Julie and I self funded our places on the Winter Walk - 42km around London. I thought - what if I did them all? Rather than try and raise sponsorship for each one I have self funded so I can maximise fundraising over the year for Cancer Research UK and hit my target in time for the final event in October. The events are: - Winter Walk (42 km) - Easter Walk (50km) - Isle of Wight (106km) - Jurassic Coast (100km) - London to Brighton (100km) - Lake District (100km) - Cotswold Way (100km) - Peak District (100km) - Yorkshire (100km) - South West Coast (50km) - South Coast (100km) - Thames Path (100km) - Chiltern (50km) - Halloween Walk (42km) After each event I'll post photos and links including total distance and total time spent walking. My big push for sponsorship will be before the Halloween walk in October as I know a lot of people wait until events are done to sponsor, so by doing over 95% upfront I'm hoping you'll see how important this is to me. This is a huge challenge and a lot of distance. Training time is limited as I work full time so I am using each event as training for the next with a "rest" weekend in between (I'll need it!). 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
