My Story

About this event: Last year you raised more than £15,000 by taking part in Stockport’s first ever Twilight Walk for Cancer Research UK! The world has changed a lot since then but we still need to support life-saving cancer research. On the day: Join us on Saturday 13th February for a virtual Twilight Walk! When you register you will receive an online sponsorship page and a pack including a paper lantern – on the day, take a walk near your home as it starts to go dark and take a photo of yourself with your lantern. We will share these photos with everyone registered. Later in the day we will be live streaming a virtual Candle of Hope ceremony, to remember those lost to cancer. In your pack you will also receive a candle bag to dedicate to a loved one who has had a cancer diagnosis. Get involved: This event is organised by volunteers in Stockport. If you would like to know more, please email stockportrelay@gmail.com

CAUSE

Manchester Fire Appeal

Following the fire at the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Manchester Institute in April 2017, Cancer Research UK has joined together with the largest single-site cancer treatment centre in Europe, the Christie, and the University of Manchester to build a world-class cancer research facility on the site of the destroyed Paterson Building. This partnership expands on the existing one between these organisations. The new research facility will bring together the entire spectrum of cancer research – from discovery through to prevention, early detection, survivorship and living with cancer.
