Last year, cancer hit close when my dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Radiotherapy, surgery and chemotherapy have luckily helped him. But this isn't the case for others, not everyone can be so lucky. I'm taking part in the Race for Life for this reason, for the people we've all lost to cancer, and for the people we will lose. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
