Jade & Jasmin’s Race for Life 2020

Cancer is happening right now, which is why Jasmin and I are taking part in a Race for Life 10k and Pretty Muddy 5k to raise money and save lives. As many of you will know our sister Vicki recently found out that she has incurable secondary breast cancer. Vicki was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 at the age of 30 when her little boys were only 5 and 2 years old. She fought her battle and after chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a mastectomy we were told she was in remission. Since then she has lived life to the full achieving so much including moving to Yorkshire, getting married, opening up her own antiques business and raising awareness on the signs of breast cancer. At the end of 2019 Vicki was sent for scans after suffering with a persistent cough and all our worst fears have been confirmed, the cancer is back. This time it’s spread to her lungs, liver, spine, lymph nodes and bones, there is no cure. Her boys are now 5 and 8 years old and all that is important to Vicki is making the most of her time with them and providing for their future. Cancer doesn’t discriminate, cancer isn’t fair, cancer doesn’t care if you are a young mum, cancer takes away your control, it makes you feel guilty, helpless and alone. Despite all this Vicki is so brave, she makes us proud every day with her strength, humour, resilience and ability to cope with the brutality of her treatment. It may be a clichè but Vicki truly is an inspiration to so many, she never fails to light up a room. She’s not just our sister she’s our best friend.
