My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. I thought of two things that I don’t really like very much, running and mud, and thought that doing the pretty muddy 5k would be something that I could do that would push me out of my comfort zone and help to raise some cash. Unfortunately cancer touches all of us in one way or another. My mother in law is currently going through maintenance chemotherapy to treat Myeloma having been in remission for the last few years. The advancement in treatments even over the last few years hopefully means that she will be able to keep the cancer at bay for a good while yet. This advancement would not be possible without the money that is raised through events like this and the need for funds to carry on with research inspired me to join in. I'm doing it not only for my mother in law but for those mums at the school gates who have had or are having their own battles, in particular one strong, inspirational woman who recently lost her battle against cervical cancer, my good friend Linda who is battling oesophageal cancer, my grandpa Tom who had throat cancer and my aunty Olive who passed away after battling a brain tumour. This is for all of you xxx
