My Story
This is something I promised myself I'd do since May last year. I'm taking part with my lovely friend Sarah Woods, her daughter Kaylee who is a best friend of my daughter Olivia, both aged 10 years. I am primarily taking part in memory of my late partner, and the love of my life, Andrew Flecknell, who died a day after receiving his diagnosis of cancer in 2018 aged 47. Andrew was a Charge Nurse at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital and was incredibly dedicated to his job in Elderly Care. I am also taking part in memory of my dad Brian Gale, who died a year after Andrew with dementia and cancer, aged 76. Coincidently, he spent a long stay on one of the wards Andrew worked on at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital and was given the utmost respect, patient care, comfort and dignity. Thank you Ward 15. I'm no runner but will do my very best in memory of these amazing men who I still love dearly. Sarah and Kaylee are taking part in memory of two very special people. Sarah's late Father-in-Law Bryan Woods, who sadly lost his battle with cancer in July 2011 and her best friend Sarah's mum, Anne Kings who passed away from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in January 2018. We will be incredibly grateful for, and encouraged by, any donation, no matter how small. We know that, sadly, we can’t bring back our loved ones, but we want to honour their memories and be part of research into crushing cancer and saving lives in the future. Every penny we raise will go towards this vital work. That’s our collective wish. Thank you in advance from The Wishful Walkers Jackie, Sarah, Olivia and Kaylee XXXX
