My Story
Hello! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I’m going to [attempt to] front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly my way to 10k in August to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. This is the first time I'm doing something like this - I honestly do not know how this is going to go. The motivation WILL fluctuate. But it's 10k. 2.5k a week. It's manageable. I wanted to get back into swimming properly anyway, so what better way to get back involved than to (hopefully) raise some money? Sometimes, it's easy to think of things like cancer as something in the distance which can affect other people; sometimes it takes something happening closer to home for you to pay real attention to the devastating impact cancer can have. I've personally had a cancer scare myself, and in those moments I realised how much we can take for granted. But it's not about me. I'm sure a lot of us have similar stories or stories about our loved ones. It's about helping the people in the best position to do something about those cancer scares / diagnoses, and supporting them to make a real difference where possible. The cost of living is ridiculous at the moment. We all know this, so please believe me when I say I'd be grateful for ANY donation, big or small. Thank you for reading! 😃
