My Story

In 2023, cancer took my beautiful abuela from us. She was the heart of our family – the person who brought everyone together, made us laugh, made us feel loved, and somehow made everything feel a little brighter just by being there. Her absence is felt every single day. Losing someone you love to cancer leaves a space that can never truly be filled. There are moments when I still reach for the phone to tell her something, family occasions where her chair feels empty, and memories that make me smile and cry at the same time. This year, I will be taking part in Race for Life in her memory. I won’t be doing it alone. I’ll be walking alongside my mama and some of the amazing members from my Slimming World group, surrounded by people who understand the importance of family, friendship and supporting one another through life’s challenges. Every step we take will be for those we’ve lost, for those still fighting, and for a future where fewer families have to experience the heartbreak that cancer brings.
