My Story
In memory of Johnny boy. We unfairly lost Dad on Friday 21st October 2016 after a short battle with Cancer. He was diagnosed with Squamous Cell (non-small cell) Lung cancer. Unfortunately, the tumour had spread to his spine which caused him severe back pain. We were told in September that he'd have 12-18 months which was devastating enough, but we were strong and positive that he was going to beat this! After 2 weeks in hospital a second CT scan took place and we were told life expectancy had decreased to 6 months as the secondary cancer was aggressive. He just wanted the pain in his back to be destroyed, but unfortunately no medication seemed to work for him. After another two weeks in hospital, Dad had two sessions of Radiotherapy but took a turn for the worse. He'd lost his voice, was hallucinating and not all there. Things were not looking great and we were then told that he was dying and it could be anytime in that week. Dad was omitted to The Duchess of Kent hospice in Reading where we said our goodbyes and after a very strong fight whilst heavily sedated he past away peacefully early hours of the Friday morning. We still cannot believe that this disgusting disease took him away from us too quickly but at least he is now out of pain. I am now going to do all I can to raise money for Cancer research, there is not enough equipment or any cure for Lung cancer and this is what I would like to focus on! Please help me to raise money starting with the Dryatholon in January to quit the booze for a month! I almost raised £300 Jan 2016 so I have bumped up my target a little higher to £500! I can assure you that I will carry on in helping fundraise for this awful disease. Thank you xx
