My Story
William (Billy) Brown passed away peacefully on 26th January 2026 aged 84years. Billy was a devoted husband to Margaret, a dad to daughters Angie and Janet, and late son Keith. He was a much loved Grandad to James, Matthew and Nathan. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday 17th February at St Mary's Church, Blackhill at 10am followed by burial at Blackhill Cemetery and a wake afterwards at Consett & District Golf Club to celebrate Billy's life. We Kindly ask flowers to be donated by immediate family only. We have decided to raise money in aid of cancer research UK in memory of Billy who was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and paraneoplastic syndrome (as a result of the cancer). Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and there will also be a collection at the end of the funeral service should you wish to donate there. Cancer Research UK supports research into all aspects of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses. Please donate today and help to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. If you are a UK taxpayer the value of your donation can increase by 25% under the Gift Aid scheme – at no additional cost to you. Please tick the Gift Aid box when you donate.
