Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5K
In memory of
7th Feb 1997 - 25th Dec 2016
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. I am doing the Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5k on 1st June at Temple Newsome in Leeds. I am raising money for Cancer Research in the hope that one day there will be a cure. No one should ever go through the loss of a loved one, especially not their young daughter, sadly this happened to me, on Christmas Day 2016 my beautiful baby lost her fight with Cancer. At the age of 3 Rebecca was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour, she endured lengthy stints of radiation and chemotherapy. At the age of 5 we were told that the treatment had been successful. The treatment left Rebecca with extensive learning and mobility disabilities, but this never stopped her living life to the full. When Rebecca reached the age of 18 she started to once again get prominent headaches. I contacted the hospital immediately and my family and I were told that another brain tumour had appeared but this time it was different - this time their would be no miraculous recovery. As you can imagine my world fell apart, for the next 12 months I made our remaining time together the best it could possibly be. On Christmas Day 2016 the day came when Rebecca became an angel. My heart was broken and has remained this way since. I want to raise money for Cancer Research in the hope that one day there will be no more suffering.
Each year in the UK, more than 9,400 people are diagnosed with tumours that start in the brain or elsewhere in the central nervous system. With more than 100 different types of brain tumour, donations can help Cancer Research UK find out what causes them and develop better treatments to improve the outlook for patients.
With Cancer Research UK Giving Pages more of the money raised goes towards beating cancer. Aside from the credit and debit card fees, every penny donated goes to Cancer Research UK.
All donations made to this page will automatically be transferred to Cancer Research UK.
