My Story
Thank you for visiting this donation page in loving memory of Pauline Davies - A much loved Wife, Mum, Gran, Sister, Cousin, Aunty, Godmother & friend, who touched the lives of so many, and will remain in all of our hearts forever. In February 2024, after a period of illness and weight loss, Pauline was diagnosed with an unusual biphasic fast growing, aggressive cancer: part squamous cell (lung cancer) and part sarcoma (soft tissue cancer). Initially she was not offered any treatment with the NHS, so Pauline began down the Eastern Medicine path taking a number of supplements, mainly medicinal mushrooms, alongside her Integrative Medicine doctor - Dr Kate James. She also began an off-label drug protocol with Dr Hari Kuhan via an Oncology Clinic based in London, taking medicines usually prescribed for diabetes, high cholesterol and worming, but which research has shown have anti-cancer properties. She was open & receptive to all suggestions, taking over 100 supplements & medications a day to help her get back to wellness. She began a cancer starving diet via the work of Jane McLelland and her book "How to Starve Cancer" as well as having regular acupuncture with her Acupuncturist Neil Thompson. Over time, tests showed that Pauline's bloods were exceptional and she was offered Chemotherapy alongside her NHS Oncologist Dr Maha Zarroug. She tweaked her supplements and medications again in order to mitigate the side effects of this treatment, and to further enhance its efficacy. After 4 cycles of chemotherapy she encountered minimal side effects and her tumour had shrunk to 75% of its original size. She began to eat more and walk further, getting back to her old self again. As Pauline had tolerated the chemotherapy so well and with such positive results she was offered 2 further cycles which she accepted. Due to its cumulative effects, the treatment began to take its toll and Pauline struggled to come back from the final cycle. Her appetite dwindled, she started to lose her breath when walking, and the neuropathy in her feet due to the chemotherapy meant she couldn't walk very far. All this aside, she was still hopeful that her CT scan due in January would show further shrinkage of the tumour. Shortly after Christmas she picked up a chest infection, now known to have been RSV, and was hospitalised on 2nd January to enable a course of IV antibiotics. During this admission, the CT scan she had been waiting for unexpectedly showed that the tumour had grown and the cancer had spread. The combination of the RSV and the aggressive fast growing nature of the cancer meant she quickly deteriorated, and sadly passed away with her Husband & Daughter by her side on 5th January. She was the strongest person we know. Please give whatever you can in Pauline's honour to support Cancer Research UK in bringing forward the day when all cancers are cured. Cancer Research UK supports research into all aspects of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.
