My Story
On Monday 30th November, Keith Ashworth, passed away at home surrounded and held by his loving family. The devoted husband of Alison, adored father of Victoria and Nathanael, much loved father in law of Callum, dear brother in law of Karen, ‘Uncle Keith’ to Heidi and an incredibly loyal and much loved friend to many. Keith had taught at Pleckgate High School, Blackburn for 20 years, loved by staff and students alike. Keith’s courage and fighting spirit humbled us all. He successfully underwent a liver transplant in 2017 as a result of an autoimmune disease. In 2018 Keith’s two year battle with cancer began. Cancer research and Keith’s courage, resilience and determination allowed us as a family to experience some unforgettable moments. In 2019 he was able to walk his doting daughter down the aisle to begin her married life. Too many wonderful holidays and experiences to list, only made possible by the skill and expertise of the NHS. Cancer research is a cause close to Keith’s heart. He was taken from us far too soon and will leave a big hole in many lives. He didn’t want to leave us and we know that he would hope that continuing research would enable others to survive this terrible disease. He will live on forever in our hearts.
