IgniteUK Chorus are raising as much as we can to beat cancer

Thanks for taking the time to visit IgniteUK's fundraising page.

We are a local women's accapella chorus that has put on an annual Fundraising concert supporting Wirksworth Cancer Research, for many years, now, as it is a charity close to our hearts. As we are unable to do this in our currently challenging times, we thought we’d put on fundraising event that helps bring us together as a chorus, as we have been unable to rehearse together since the first lockdown. So, although we have met on screen every week, this will give us a collective goal that will be fun to work towards but also help raise vital funds for this important charity. Our aim is to raise £500, by each chorus member walking the equivalent of a marathon, 26.2 miles, over 36 days. That will be an amazing 1366 miles!

We will, of course, miss you, the audience, as those that have seen us live, know how excited we are to share our love of music with you all. So, if you might have normally come along to our concert, we hope you can still support us by donating on this page.
Please feel free to tell your friends & family, too.

If you would prefer to give cash in person, then Helen Hobbs (Ignite member) will be accepting donations, so please contact her on 07596 557970. Please write the URL (printed below) of this fundraising page on the back of your cheque.

Thanks in advance for your support, and we look forward to seeing you in person and full voice next year, and thanks to Janet Pidgeon, from Wirksworth Cancer Research, for her help in promoting our exciting venture.

Cancer is happening right now, which is why we are fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose!
Donate to our page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

Ignite Walkathon 2020
It seems such a long time ago now when our chorus began its challenge to walk a marathon each. To recap, we set off like rockets on Bonfire night on our 36 days walkathon. Members of the chorus have faced wind, rain and even snow in an attempted to meet their targets..
Children have been marched miles in an attempt to include the family in a healthy pursuit. Some of us have walked our boots through and have had to ask Santa for new ones for Christma!
And to add to the challengers we did this during the second Covid lockdown when opportunities to go outdoors were greatly restricted. All this however was so worthwhile.
A final count of the miles walked is………3618.58
Thank you to everyone who followed and supported us during this fun event. And thank you to those who have helped us raise this fantastic amount to give tothis vital charity.
Have a Very Merry Christmas – remain safe, and here’s to a healthy & Happy New Year.
