Raising money the only way I know how: standing in front of people and shouting about bananas.

Oh good, it's Hugh and another one of his stories...

Right, let's be honest. If someone offered to give me a microphone, a stage and some time to waffle, I was always gonna say yes. Give me a chance to whack on the sparkly jacket and I'd be at the opening of a microwave for a natter.

But in truth, I'm absolutely kacking my pants at the thought of doing actual stand up - on the very stage where I've seen some of the world's greatest comedians and Russell Howard perform.

Yet on the 23rd May, me and a bunch of people I've only just met are going to stand in front of about 300 people and try to make them laugh. We'll be giving blood (maybe), sweat (probably in those lights) and tears (oh abso-friggin-lutely) to put on the best comedy show you'll have seen that day.

But I'm not doing it for my love of bright lights and mediocre jokes. Oh no. I want to raise a substantial amount of money for Cancer Research UK, which is a cause that is close to my heart and my email signature.

Since joining Cancer Research UK I've been astounded at finding out the incredible things they've done in advancing treatment, finding cures, and helping those who are currently kicking cancer's arse. They also make a cracking website, so I hear.

I've not usually been one for fundraising, except for that time when I was 8 when I tried to wash cars for charity for about 45 minutes before I realised I couldn't be arsed and had a nap instead. So here's all my asks in one.

Please donate whatever you can, there'll be video of it but I'll only be sharing that as a bonus to people who helped me smash my total, so you can see the moment in the 3rd minute when I internally ponder the life choices that have led to this moment in time. I'll look constipated.

Or come along to the show to see me make a metric tit out of my myself! Copy and paste this link right here >>> http://events.cancerresearchuk.org/events/signup/start?wave_code=N17ENGW03
