My gran was the most loving and caring women they was. After attending the relay for life yesterday I realised how affected people were by cancer, especially ovarian cancer. In 2011 my Grans’s 13 month long battle with ovarian cancer begun, it absolutely destroyed my family. My gran was back bone of our family so you can imagine what it was like after we were given the horrible news. I was only 9 when my gran was diagnosed and I remember not really understanding. The last memories I have of her was her lying in bed, no wig and just pushing through everything to even talk to me. Ovarian cancer is the 5th most common cancer diagnosed world wide, 20000 women get diagnosed each year. 1 in 73 will develop ovarian cancer in their life time. This is heartbreaking to me and it definitely needs to change. My heart goes out to everyone who is effected by this disease, it’s the most horrific thing for a family to go though💗
CAUSE
Ovarian cancer
Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer in UK women, with more than 130 women every week told that they have the disease. It is often not diagnosed until it has spread, making it harder to treat. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to detect ovarian cancer earlier and find better treatments.
