Holly's Race for Life for Hannah <3

Hello everyone and welcome to my JustGiving Page, raising money for Cancer Research UK! So, whilst I'm sure all of us are facing particularly tough times at this moment due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it can be easy to forget that there are still other illnesses/ diseases in our lives that are affecting our friends and family daily. Words cannot put together just how much cancer has been involved in my family and friends life so far. First my Aunt, a survivor, then my dad- also a survivor! I ran the Race for Life Muddy 5K for them only a few years ago. This week, my closest and best friend (and also my Maid of Honour) Hannah has now been informed that she has leukamia/ blood cancer at only 26 years old. I'm sure all of us know someone who has tackled cancer, but nothing quite prepares you at this stage of life to be told your childhood friend will now be fighting for her life. It's been a tough week. The news has shocked us all and it has been very difficult to come to terms with the fact that our happy, lively, life of the party, Halloween crazy friend has this huge battle ahead of her. Hannah is due to start an intense course of treatment/ chemo over the next few weeks at Addenbrookes hospital, the best of the best in Medical care! We're all so grateful she's in the best place and whilst it is hard that we're not able to visit her due to Covid-19, rest assured we are all keeping in touch regularly on video chat. My intention is not to come across to you as a person forcing you to donate money. Even if you log on, read this and can't donate, that's fine. It is merely to bring attention to the fact that despite current circumstances relating to the pandemic, we can't for a minute put cancer to rest. It's still happening! I'm doing this in July- and whilst the thought of running 10K scares me greatly, it's nothing compared to what my gal has got ahead of her over the next couple of years. Whilst it's limited what me, her family and friends are able to do at this time, I can't sit still. I need to do something! I'm not an experienced runner. In fact, I only properly started running in July 2020 and completed the Couch to 5K Challenge. Rather embarrassingly, I've had a few months off since October 2020 and haven't found the motivation to get back on it. But Hannah is my motivation and every struggle, every uphill climb, every rather disgusting drip of sweat or blistered toe will all be worth it for her! She is my world. All I'm asking is that if you are willing and able, please donate what you can, even if it's just £1. It would mean the world to all of Hannah's friends, family and Cancer Research. In return, I'll owe you all a drink when I next see you ;) Our girly is gonna make it through this. Cancer has messed with the wrong person and she will kick it's butt!!
