2024 Great North Run
Sun 8 Sep 2024 - Sun 8 Sep 2024
I'm running the Great North Run! ("the world's biggest and best half marathon")
In memory of
Deirdre Clark
My Story
Both my mother (Fiona) and my mother's mother (Deirdre) survived breast cancer. Their survival, for the most part, is thanks to the accumulation of knowledge of cancer and its treatment. Ongoing research into cancer and its treatment will not only increases the survivability of breast cancer, it increases the survivability of caner in general. I will enter the Great North Run as an excuse to raise month for Cancer Research UK. Please consider supporting me. I am dedicating this fundraiser to Deirdre Clark (who to me was Granny Podge). Although Deirdre survived cancer many years ago now, she recently passed away. Deirdre is and will be missed. She was a wonderful character who may not have wanted to recognise the impact of scientific research in cancer! Nevertheless, I know that Deirdre would have supported me and for sure she would have enjoyed the spectacle of seeing runners in brightly coloured outfits. To Granny Podge.

CAUSE
All Cancer Types
Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
