My Story
We are raising money in honour of our Mum and all those affected with cancer. Rest In Peace Mom❤️ Some friends and I will be hiking Snowdonia March next year. My sister (Emily) did a great job raising money through the Race for Life but we are determined to hit our 10k target! Please consider donating and sharing our page. You can read our story below. After feeling under the weather for a couple of weeks with typical cold and flu symptoms she decided to visit the local GP. After a few further tests its was revealed on Christmas Eve that she had malignant lung cancer. No more than a couple of weeks later we discovered that it was Stage 4. The unfortunate case with lung cancer is that the symptoms typically resemble those of cold and flu and therefore it is often overlooked. Because of this over 90% of lung cancer cases are diagnosed at Stage 4. This figure is far too high and with over 43,000 people suffering with this deadly disease each year claiming the lives of over 35,000 I want to do my part in raising as much money as I can to cure this awful disease once and for all. Lung cancer
Each year more than 43,500 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK. We urgently need to drive progress so that more people survive their disease. Cancer Research UK is at the forefront in lung cancer research and is funding various projects to tackle the disease head on. This includes the TRACERx study, Cancer Research UK’s largest investment into lung cancer to date. This study has already transformed our understanding of how lung cancer evolves and is continuing to shed light on how to prevent, detect and treat the disease.
