I’m raising as much as I can to help research into the BRCA2 gene mutation.

Breda Hoey
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. A few years ago my mother died of cancer and we found out she had tested positive for the BRCA2 gene mutation. Last year I found out myself after testing that I too inherited the BRCA2 gene. A person who tests positive for the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation has an increased lifetime risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer. My mother had undergone chemotherapy after an ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2007. She also felt it necessary to have this genetic testing, as my auntie and other family members had died from cancer in the past. This has a knock on effect for all my children who now have a 50/50 chance of having this same gene. Please help me raise as much money as I can to help research into this BRCA2 gene mutation. Thank you Alex

Ovarian cancer
Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer in UK women, with more than 130 women every week told that they have the disease. It is often not diagnosed until it has spread, making it harder to treat. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to detect ovarian cancer earlier and find better treatments.
