My Story

As most people close to me will know, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after I finished school and just before I began university in 2012. Like the true fighter that she is, she was able to beat it and come back even stronger. Many people are not so lucky, one such person being my grandad, whom I adore, but lost at an incredibly young age due to him being diagnosed with bone cancer. Those closest to me will know that I have always had a strong affection and connection to Peter Pan as this is one of my final memories of my grandad as he was in too much pain to be touched so my dad would lift me to make me “fly” like Peter Pan so that I could give my grandad a “Peter Pan kiss” so that we wouldn’t be hurting him. I sympathise completely with families that have to go through this; those that can celebrate beating it and those that have to mourn the loss of loved ones. After my mum’s recovery, she gained an affection for 10,000 steps a day challenges and so I will be undertaking this challenge with her by my side throughout March. Thank you so much for your support. I shall post daily screenshots of my step counter on my apple watch to show that I have completed my target every day.
