Helen's Race for Life

My family are supporting each other in raising money for cancer research. I went through treatment for breast cancer in 2013 and thankfully have been cancer free since then. I know how difficult and devastating cancer can be and I've got friends who have been affected by this terrible disease. One of my special friends, Carol, who I met when we went through cancer treatment together, sadly passed away from liver cancer in January, far too early and far too young. I want to try and stop this happening to other people. Another of my friends, Lorna, who I met after my treatment, also sadly passed away in April after several episodes of cancer and years of treatment. Our friend Jim also died in April after lengthy treatment for a blood cancer. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
