My Story
Cancer research is a charity I support regularly and is very close to my heart... ... You see, my wonderful, kind, devoted Dad lost his battle with ca oesophagus in May 2004, shortly after my 16th birthday. For me & my family, cancer changed all of our lives more than we could ever have imagined possible, in a very short period of time. BUT. Cancer doesn't get to win. So! Since 22nd March 2017, and with my race for Life team, I have been learning to run. I know right?! Me? run!! (Am hooked and totally in love with it)! My initial goal is to run the race for life in Exeter & to run it non stop, my secret goal is to set a new personal best time, or meet my current PB ... & to raise money for cancer research while doing so to help beat cancer sooner. Please dig deep and sponsor me, in my non stop challenge, while running to keep my Dad's memory alive. I know how proud he would be of me, in running (as I am the world's most unlikely runner and hated running at school & for as long as I can remember)! as well as of me in life. Since loosing Dad 13 years ago my goal has been to live to keep making him proud in every single thing I do - so by that thought alone I know I can do this! Wish me luck :-D Helen x Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
