My cancer story is only nine months old. A year ago, I was in blissful ignorance of the killer lurking inside me. My doctor told me there was nothing wrong. Telling those around me was so incredibly hard, but I've been surrounded by the love and support of the most amazing friends and family since Day 1. I'm so blessed. My journey continues but, for now, I'm walking to mark one year on. My body might feel a bit battered after surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and I may look like something from a horror movie, but I am very fortunate. I can do this, when many others can't. And I walk for them. So many others out there are still on their cancer journey after 5, 10, 15, 20 years, or even more: they are my heroes and I walk for them. Some are no longer here to do the walk: I walk in recognition and remembrance of them. Some will wake tomorrow morning, unaware it's the day their journey begins: I'm walking in support of them.
