My Story
I am very proud to be running London Marathon 2023 for Cancer Research UK. Well I say running but it will definitely be a run/walk effort as I got a late place in February so limited time to train and on only my second run I managed to fall and gash my knee ! Not the best start and it will be a challenge to train and to get round on the day but raising money for such a worthwhile cause is massive motivation . I ran Paris marathon in 2010 and during my training regularly thought of my cousin Joanne who had died of a brain tumour 2 years earlier only in her 40's . She had been a great runner when we were schoolgirls and I appreciated how lucky I was to still be fit and well enough to be running. In the last few years I've lost another two cousins to cancer, brothers Adam and Chris , both bearly making it to 40. My partner has lost his sister and a friend her husband . I will be thinking of each of them during my training and on marathon day. With so many families effected by cancer ,continuing research is vital. If you are able to support my fundraising by making a donation I will be very grateful and together we will be enabling Cancer Research UK to continue its fantastic work . Thank you for reading x
