My Story
Hello all as most of you know I have fought my own cancer journey . Long and hard and I was 1 of the lucky 1s my diagnosis was in 2013 Hodgekins lymphoma originally stage 2a I stared chemotherapy locally in Kent at 1st it was a success after 6 rounds we were told I was clear ! yay .... little did we know how aggressive it actually was within 8 weeks I had relapsed the doctor tried 2 more different chemos and relapsed both times then tried a new drug which failed . Things got very scary I was transferred to London and the process of stem cell transplant started . They tried to harvest my own at 1st but failed in the chair as they found out it had spread and I was now stage 4 and it was in my bone marrow . Being a mum to a 4 and 7 year old at this point as you can imagine I feared the worst. Luckily the charity Anthony Nolan were given my details and blood and within just 4 weeks I had a phone call to come to London and they had found me a 100% match from an annoymous donor amazing ! And so the process began in sep 2015 I was admitted and a lot of bumps along the way a few scares an intensive care admition. Flooded lungs with 50% damage to both . I have fought my hardest today I am much stronger and so so lucky to be alive . Thanks to amazing support from my family and uclh London and Mcmillan and my children and close friends I’m here and still fighting another day 💪 I am running for myself and a dear family friend who sadly passed away from burkitts lyphoma his name is Richard humphrey I will be thinking off him and his mum when I run . And to all the other survivors and fighters and the 1s who aren’t with us anymore your all amazing
