Heather Walks All Over Cancer

I am fundraising by walking 10,000 steps a day during March. I am doing this in memory of my beautiful mother Doreen Alice Rose who sadly lost her battle with Cancer last year. My Mum was 76, fit and healthy in every other way, it came as such a shock when we got the sudden news that she had Cancer...Stage 4 by the time they found it. My Mum truly was a beautiful person inside and out, she cared deeply for others and was such a wonderful and giving person. Even when she was first in hospital she was plumping up the other patients cushions for them and making sure they were alright..that was her, that was just how she was. Mum had several rounds of Chemotherapy and initially seemed to make good progress. Her spirit remained strong throughout, she didn't complain and true to form was more concerned about the effect it was having on all of us, her family who she loved so much. I miss her so much, it literally hurts. We lost Mum about 8 months after her first hospital admission. It broke my heart. I miss her smile, her voice, her laughter, even her occasional impatience with me...I can be hard work :-) I miss our chats, going shopping together, laughing at the same things but mostly I miss the amazing bond we had. I know Mum would not want me to feel sad when I think of her so I choose to be grateful for the time I had her in my life. Doing this in her Memory would make her proud. Some people may say 76 is a fair age but if you knew my Mum and how full of life she was you would know that she left this earth far too early. If I can help raise funds so that we can find out more and find a cure for the terrible destructive disease of Cancer then I know she would say: "well done Heather I'm proud of you"
