My Story

This September I’m taking on the Cancer Research UK Walking Challenge — walking a mile every day for 30 days. Now, for some people, walking a mile doesn’t sound like much… but those who know me will appreciate that committing to 30 days of exercise is probably the biggest challenge here! The reason I’m doing it is very personal. My bestie of more than 40 years has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, and watching someone you love go through treatment has been incredibly tough. There have been difficult days, worrying moments, but also plenty of strength, courage and laughter along the way. Cancer Research UK does amazing work supporting research, treatments and giving hope to so many people affected by cancer. If my daily plodding around the streets can help raise money for that work, then every step is worth it. So please dig deep if you can, and help me turn my questionable fitness levels into something worthwhile. I promise to keep walking… although I may need a medal, a cup of tea and possibly a small lie down after each mile!
