I have incurable breast cancer. Part of my 'fight' is to help to raise awareness that young and healthy women can get BC, alongside raising money for kinder and more effective treatments. It can sometimes seem like so much money has already been raised for Cancer Research UK, so surely the cure is within reach? But the reality is that we are still so far from finding a cure and that treatments continue to be torturous to endure. The only hope is to keep raising money for research; this is the only positive way forward and the one thing we have in our power to do. So I intend to 'run' the Muddy Race for Life on 1st July. I am currently receiving treatment as the cancer has spread into my skin, but I will get round somehow! I am running with my friends and we will help one another to pass the finish line. It remains a shocking statistic that 1in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. None of us can ignore it.
