My Story
August 24th is a very important date for me and my family. Almost 20 years ago we lost our beautiful Nannie Fisher to cancer. I was only nine at the time. I wish we all could have shared the last 20 years of our lives with her so that she could see us all grow into the people we are today, to share with us all the ups and downs we've had over the years and to see her new grandkids and great grandkids grow up. Nannie we love you and miss you every single day! On October 8th this year I will be running a half marathon with Cancer Research at Lee Valley. I've been through a huge personal journey with my weight loss and fitness the last few years and I know Nannie will be smiling and looking down from heaven. Running the half marathon in memory of my Nannie Fisher and raising money for Cancer Research feels like something I have to do especially now as it is 20 years this year. Together we can beat cancer sooner and one day we won't have to fight this awful disease and lose people we love to damn cancer ? *Update: I’m officially a half marathon finisher. The whole experience was absolutely incredible and I’m so happy with my time - 2:17:03. I would like to thank everyone for the support, good luck wishes and donations. I will keep this page open until the end of this month (October) and hopefully will hit the £500 goal xx Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Half Marathon to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
