Hello and Welcome! This is my fundraising page and I will be posting a lot of photos, videos and other stuff here over the next 10 months. This year, I found out that I have the BRCA1 genetic mutation. This gene mutation means that I have about an 80% chance of developing breast cancer in my lifetime and up to a 60% chance of developing ovarian cancer. Learning this was a bit of an emotional journey; my wonderful mum had this mutation which sadly lead to her passing away when I was 13. Although it is sadly too late for my mum and for countless others and their loved ones, fundraising for Cancer Research is a great way to increase the chances that new treatments, drugs and therapies can be found to help stop this from happening to me or anyone else. So! I will spending the next 10 months doing lots of cool/hard/fun/weird things for Cancer Research! I will be running, wearing pink, singing, writing, giving up things, donating my hair, hosting events and much more for this amazing cause. You’ll also have the chance to submit things you’d like to see me do so get your thinking caps on! And stay tuned, follow me on Instagram at @hannahandbrca to keep an eye on my progress and all the things I’ll be up to. All the love, Hannah xx
CAUSE
Ovarian cancer
Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer in UK women, with more than 130 women every week told that they have the disease. It is often not diagnosed until it has spread, making it harder to treat. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to detect ovarian cancer earlier and find better treatments.
