I am a medicinal chemist working for Newcastle University Centre for Cancer. Our work, searching for and developing new drugs to treat cancer is sponsored by Cancer Research UK. The Corona virus crisis has impacted everyone, including those with cancer, and CR-UK is no exception, expecting a massive funding deficit over the coming year, with much of their income coming from charitable events such as race for life, many of which have been cancelled. We are fighting cancer through the research we are doing everyday, at our desks, itching to return to the lab, and this week we are fundraising too. Running, cycling, walking and more over a 1000 miles in a virtual tour of the UK Cancer Research Drug Discovery Units With one in two of us likely to be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetimes, our research is vital. Cancer Research UK is the only charity to research all 200 cancer types without government funding. Support like yours ensures we can continue our work, bringing about more breakthroughs, more treatments and more cures than ever before. Everything we achieve for our life-changing research is thanks to the generosity and dedication of our volunteers. Simply put, we could not achieve these breakthroughs without your support.
