I'm taking part in Race for Life to raise money to beat cancer sooner.
My Story
Obesity is the leading cause of cancer after smoking. I've spent the majority of my life overweight until last year when I decided that vegetables weren't the devil and that the STAGS cross country run couldn't scar me forever and I made some changes. So far I've lost 40kg, I feel healthier than I ever have and exercise has been a part of that. I was motivated, in part, by the undeniable realisation that cancer doesn't discriminate. Cancer wouldn't wait for me to photograph the Isle of Skye, adopt a greyhound or finally finish War and Peace; I was putting myself at risk. 1 in 2 people will deal with cancer in their lifetime, in doing this run I can only hope to raise a bit of money to fund research that will lower this number. I've been inspired by some incredible women lately, strong in ways I can only hope to one day be. This run is for them more than anyone.

CAUSE
All Cancer Types
Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
