My Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page! I'm taking on the 10 Days of 5K Challenge this October to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Please show your support and help fund life-saving research by donating to my page. This is the 3rd step in my journey: 1st step: Sign up to parkrun and actually go do a couple of parkruns! Let's not talk about how painfully slow I am - at least I am trying ;-) 2nd Step : Sign up to the challenge 3rd step: Sign up to the Chariots of Fire race in Cambridge with a team. and ... Let's not talk about how painfully slow I am - at least I am trying ;-) (bis) (4th step) : go for a run today! For those of you who know me well, you'll know that running is not my forte. Once upon a time when the dinosaurs were roaming, I was running 10km three times a week. Long gone are those days—a sedentary, stressful job, raising four children on my own, and caring for my elderly parents have all gotten in the way of keeping up with running. I've discovered I'm not able to commit to myself—I only do well by committing to others. So I'm committing to Cancer Research UK to run 10 x 5km in October, and I need your support to keep me honest. Three years ago, I committed to running 100km in October, and I only completed that challenge because of the sheer volume of support my network gave me by donating to Cancer Research. We've all lost someone dear to cancer. When you get to my age, you can't avoid a few brushes too close to home and a few frights. Please help me support Cancer Research UK. Finally, in these times of cost of living crisis, austerity, and uncertainty—please only give if and what you can. Your support matters most.
