Thomas’ Race for Life 2024!
In memory of
Ada “June” Eaton
3rd Jun 1942 - 2nd May 2023
On May 2nd 2023 My family lost an incredible, strong and beautiful woman. My Nan was super supportive of all of us, always happy to see us and always put a smile on our faces when needed the most. Even in my Nans final days she worried more about those around her than herself. Telling me to go out and have fun and to not worry about her. My Nan had already beaten cancer before, survived a heart attack and much more. But in January 2023 was told the cancer had returned and there was nothing we could do. Hearing a family member is ill is tough, hearing that they’ll never get better is heartbreaking. I remember coming home from football, my mum driving and being told that my Nan had cancer it’s like a part of you is being ripped out, it hurts. Personally, I didn’t tell many people about what was happening, to try and come to terms with everything that was sprung upon our family so quickly. Hoping that it was all a mistake, that the doctors had misjudged it and that it was curable. I was wrong. I usually keep myself to myself without expressing my feelings but I wish I could go back and spend more time with her, to tell my Nan how appreciative I was of everything she did for us, and to tell her I loved her one final time. For the second year in a row, I'll be completing the Race for life 5k in memory of my Nan.
